one-Day Adult Emergency & Difficult Airway Management Course

This 1-Day course is a full day of adult airway management.  Approved for 10 CEs. The day is fairly evenly divided between lectures and hands-on instruction.


  • The course is intended for Anesthesia providers, Paramedics, Acute Care NPs, Emergency Room Staff and Respiratory Therapy. 
  • The course includes use of very high-quality airway simulators (TruCorps).
  • The course utilizes the latest video laryngoscopes, supraglottic airways, laryngoscopic equipment as well as all disposables.
  • The porcine cricothyrotomy lab kicks off the afternoon and utilizes porcine laryngeal-tracheal segments. The techniques that are taught include but are not limited to needle cricothyrotomy and percutaneous dilational cricothyrotomy.


Hands on sessions cover:

  • A to Z Laryngoscopy: External Laryngeal Manipulation - Airway Exchange Catheters - Bougie-assisted Intubation
  • Advanced techniques to prevent and rescue failed tracheal intubation
  • Rescue ventilation using supraglottic airway devices
  • Rational use of the LMA-Fastrach
  • Special techniques to overcome difficult laryngoscopy
  • Videolaryngoscopy and fiberoptic stylets
  • Rapid Sequence Intubation vs. Delayed Sequence Intubation


FACILITY LOCATION

The SLAM Airway Learning Center is located in Dallas county in the town of Rowlett, Texas and is easily accessible from both DFW and Love Field. It is in an industrial park in a freshly renovated factory/shop.  Comfortable memory foam chairs are provided. Refreshments and food are provided throughout the conference to include continental breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon snacks.  There is a 45 minute break for lunch.
